Overview of Paid Sick Leave Laws Most workers require some time off each year to care for their own and their family members’ health and medical needs. At present, no federal law mandates paid sick leave for private US employees. This law covers all employees that have worked 30 days or more in a year. On September 27th in Diamond Bar, FOASC held a special board meeting along with the West Coast FOA and the Joe Saraceno FOA. A total of 38 Board of Directors were in attendance. California Senate Bill 1400 – Tobacco

SB 1400 (Wieckowski) – would define “retail location” under the Cigarette and Tobacco Products Licensing Act to mirror the definition of a “tobacco store” under the Stop Tobacco Access to Kids Enforcement Act. This would limit the sale of tobacco products to locations that primarily sell tobacco products and generate more than 60% of gross revenues from tobacco products and paraphernalia. According to the Board of Equalization, this change is expected to prohibit about 30,000 retailers including grocery stores, C-stores, gas stations and liquor stores from selling tobacco products.
